Decoupling Motor Synchronous Speed
Direct drive (DriveArrangement.DIRECT) blowers are permanently locked to the synchronous speed of the AC motor (e.g., 1450 RPM or 2900 RPM). V-Belt drives (DriveArrangement.V_BELT) decouple the fan from the motor. By utilizing calculated sheave (pulley) ratios, engineers can dial the fan wheel into the exact RPM required to hit a specific point on the system resistance curve.
Mechanical Isolation and Maintenance
Beyond performance tuning, V-Belt configurations physically separate the motor from the blower casing. In applications handling hot gases (up to 120°C without a cooling wheel) or heavy vibration, this isolation protects the motor bearings from thermal conduction and mechanical shock. Routine maintenance is reduced to simple belt tensioning and scheduled replacement.
