Compliance with IMO Sulfur Regulations
Commercial shipping vessels burning Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) generate massive quantities of Sulfur Oxides (SOx) and particulate matter. To comply with strict International Maritime Organization (IMO) emissions regulations, ships deploy compact, high-velocity Venturi Wet Scrubbers integrated directly into the exhaust funnel.
Seawater Atomization and Neutralization
Marine scrubbers operate on an open-loop system, utilizing the natural alkalinity of seawater to neutralize the acidic exhaust. The hot diesel exhaust accelerates through the venturi throat, atomizing injected seawater into millions of micro-droplets. The extreme turbulence captures the soot particulates and absorbs the SOx gas, discharging clean white steam into the atmosphere while the wash-water is treated and discharged overboard.
